Zhang Wen, a 27-year-old random killer, attacked Taipei Main Station Exit M7, Zhongshan MRT Station, and Eslite Bookstore Nanxi Store on the evening of the 19th, carrying smoke bombs and multiple knives. His attacks resulted in 4 deaths and 11 injuries before he fell to his death. This afternoon (the 23rd) at approximately 2 PM, an autopsy was performed on Zhang Wen’s body at the Huaiai Memorial Hall in Taipei to determine the exact cause of death and collect samples for toxicity testing. The autopsy lasted approximately two hours. After leaving the autopsy room, Zhang Wen’s parents spoke out for the first time, bowing and kneeling to apologize to the public on behalf of Zhang Wen.
