Researchers have achieved a major breakthrough with the development of an AI scientist capable of conducting complete research independently. Published in Nature, the study demonstrates an AI system that generates project ideas, conducts experiments, writes scientific papers, and evaluates its own work without human intervention.

The rise of “Agentic AI” represents a paradigm shift, with systems evolving from simple generative models to autonomous digital collaborators. Advanced models like Gemini 3 and Claude 4.6 enable these agentic workflows by dynamically selecting optimal courses of action across complex objectives.

Google’s new TurboQuant technique addresses the global memory shortage by compressing large language model data requirements up to six times while accelerating performance eightfold. Meanwhile, Huawei’s 950PR chip gains traction among major Chinese tech companies, offering improved CUDA compatibility.

OpenAI secured $110 billion in funding at a $730 billion valuation, while Meta and AMD partnered on a $60 billion investment for a 6-gigawatt GPU network. In space science, AI systems have confirmed over 100 exoplanets using NASA TESS data, including 31 new discoveries.
