Ethereum has experienced a significant price decline, falling below the critical $2,000 and $2,100 thresholds on March 29, 2026. The cryptocurrency lost 1.48% in a single trading session amid substantial ETF outflows totaling $392 million.
The decline is attributed to broader market risk-off sentiment, technical bearish signals following a “failed breakout,” and stalled U.S. crypto legislation. Citigroup has lowered its 12-month price targets for both Bitcoin and Ethereum, citing regulatory uncertainty’s impact on institutional adoption.
Bitcoin is also navigating volatility, trading between $66,600 and $70,900. The cryptocurrency market is experiencing “Extreme Fear,” with the Fear & Greed Index plummeting to 9—a level historically associated with potential market turning points.
Regulatory developments continue to shape the landscape. A new draft of the U.S. Senate’s “Clarity Act” proposes prohibiting yield or rewards on stablecoins, which could reshape competitive dynamics between stablecoins and traditional banking.
On a positive note, Dogecoin received official commodity status from the SEC, and Coinbase has partnered with Better Home & Finance to allow U.S. homebuyers to use Bitcoin or USDC as collateral for mortgage down payments.
