Tensions between India and Pakistan have reached a critical point as military clashes intensify along the disputed Kashmir border region. The latest round of hostilities began early Monday morning, with both sides exchanging artillery fire and small arms skirmishes across the Line of Control.

According to military sources from both nations, at least 12 soldiers have been killed and dozens injured in the past 48 hours. The conflict has displaced thousands of civilians living in border villages, with local authorities establishing emergency shelters in nearby towns.

The United Nations has called for immediate de-escalation, with Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urging both nuclear-armed neighbors to exercise maximum restraint. “The international community cannot afford a wider conflict in South Asia,” Guterres stated during an emergency press conference.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs accused Pakistan of harboring terrorist groups that launched cross-border attacks. Pakistan has denied these allegations, claiming that Indian forces initiated unprovoked aggression.

The United States and China have both offered to mediate talks between the two nations. President Trump tweeted that he would speak with leaders from both countries to help broker peace. Regional experts warn that without swift diplomatic intervention, the conflict could escalate further.

International airlines have begun rerouting flights to avoid Pakistani and northern Indian airspace, causing significant disruptions to global travel routes. Major powers continue monitoring the situation closely as diplomatic channels work overtime to prevent further escalation.
