Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 17, 2026, ending years of speculation and anticipation from the gaming community. The announcement came alongside a stunning new gameplay trailer showcasing the game’s Vice City setting.
The trailer reveals the series’ first female protagonist, Lucia, who partners with male lead Jason in what Rockstar describes as “a modern Bonnie and Clyde story.” The game returns to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City, expanded to include the surrounding Florida-inspired region.
“GTA VI represents the most ambitious project we’ve ever undertaken,” said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games. “The scale and detail of the world we’re building exceeds anything we’ve created before.”
Pre-orders for the game opened immediately following the announcement, with the Collector’s Edition priced at $199.99 selling out within hours. Industry analysts predict GTA VI could generate over $3 billion in revenue during its first year, potentially becoming the highest-grossing entertainment product of all time.
The game will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Rockstar confirmed that GTA Online will receive a complete overhaul with the new release, featuring persistent world events and improved anti-cheat measures.
Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, saw its stock price surge 15% following the announcement. The gaming industry now faces a crowded holiday season, with several other major titles scheduled for release around the same period.
